Aluminum, .040″ thick
Factory baked-on high gloss enamel will last for many years outside. Somewhat flexible in larger sizes. Available in white and basic colors.
Aluminum, .080″ thick
Factory baked-on high gloss enamel will last for many years outside. More rigid that .040″. A good choice for street signs.
Poly-Metal or Sign-A-Bond
Two sheets of aluminum with factory baked-on enamel with a polypropylene core. A lower cost alternative to .080″ aluminum. About 1/8″ thick.
Alumacorr
Two sheets of aluminum with factory baked-on enamel with a corrugated polypropylene core. A good choice for large signs subjected to high wind. A better alternative to plywood since it will not absorb moisture or rot. About 1/4″ thick.
Corrugated plastic (Coroplast)
An economical choice for yard signs or other temporary outdoor signs. Available in colors and can be used with a wire “Step Stake” for placement in the ground. In larger quantities, signs may be screen printed to further reduce costs. The normal thickness is about 1/4″, but 3/8″ is also available for larger signs for job site, auction, real estate or other applications.
Banner
A temporary outdoor sign which can be rolled up for storage. Material is 13 oz. fiberglass reinforced vinyl measuring about .014″ thick. Ends are hemmed and grommets are reinforced for durability.
Magnetics
Normally used for temporary attachment to steel vehicle doors. About .030″ thick. Used for company identification, phone number and advertising.
Urethane
High density urethane foam is normally used for sandblasted signs. A typical application is a subdivision entrance sign.
Other Materials
Other outdoor materials are available including Plexiglass (acrylic), Lexan (polycarbonate), MDO plywood, etc.
